Maybe it’s just human nature…
But it seems like these days, we all went everything as FAST as possible.
We get frustrated when a website doesn’t load in less than 5 seconds.
We’re angry when the food we ordered takes longer than 30 minutes to deliver.
Heck, you can get basically anything you’d ever want shipped to your front door in 2 days or less.
Point is, we live in a world where we want everything…
And we want it NOW.
Unfortunately though…
This need for speed has carried over into all the wrong areas of life.
It’s especially bad when it comes to learning a new skillset, or starting a business.
So many of us want the big changes in life to happen overnight.
Anything longer than that…
And we feel like it won’t be worth the effort.
Which is a shame.
Because 99% of the time, all it takes to be successful…
Is to simply outlast the competition!
You don’t even have to be the greatest at what you do.
Chances are, everyone else is going to quit after a few months.
Meaning if you’re the last guy standing…
You’re the big winner by default!
I’ll admit though, I took longer than most to finally see success.
Most people can make big things happen in 1 to 2 years…
Often times even faster.
But for me… it took 5 whole years!
But you know what?
I’d happily do it all over again if I had to.
Because even though it was 5 years…
The life I’m blessed with now was worth all of it.
Worth all the late nights working.
Worth all the stress.
Worth fighting through the self-doubt, and questioning if I was on the right path.
Because before those 5 years of hard work and sacrifice…
My life wasn’t pretty.
Sure, I had my ministry and my family.
The two blessings I’ll always be the most grateful for.
But outside of that…
Well, here’s a little glimpse:
- Had to borrow money when it came time to move back to Texas
- No money in savings
- No money in retirement
- Living paycheck to paycheck
- Credit cards maxed out
- Couldn’t afford to do anything special for my wife & daughter
Fast forward to now, 6 years later…
- I have multiple streams of income
- My DSF biz is running stronger than ever
- Have the freedom to travel and serve
- I do ministry for FREE! (no more depending on money from the church)
- “Retired” my wife so she’ll never have to work again
- I’m able to serve more people than I ever thought possible
- And I’ve become a better provider for my family
I promise I’m not trying to brag.
I’ve been blessed with this lifestyle, and I understand it can be taken away at any moment.
And I’m ok with that.
But let me ask you this…
Would you trade 1 year… 2 years… or even 5 years like I did…
To go from my “old” lifestyle, to the one I’m fortunate enough to have now?
Of course you would!
And the best part is, there’s no “secret sauce” to it.
It’s just a matter of showing up every single day.
One training module at a time.
One phone call at a time.
One quote at a time.
One new client at a time.
And before you know it…
You’ll turn around and realize you’ve already made miles worth of progress.
So, if you’re ever feeling stuck or frustrated…
Or feeling like you’re not moving as fast as others seem to be…
Don’t beat yourself up over it.
Because if you ask me…
Consistency is all that matters.
Just take one step at a time and enjoy the ride 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Your brother in Christ,
Cory
